Ability West CLG

Ability West is a charity established in 1962, and last year was 60 years in operation. It was set up by parents and friends. Today the organization provides services and supports to over 600 children and adults with intellectual disabilities. We employ more than 630 people across Galway City & County. We operate 60 centres across Galway City and County – 27 Residential locations, 27 Day Services, and 6 Respite Services. We are Patron of 4 schools – St. Joseph’s, St. Olivers, St. Teresa’s and Tigh Nan Dooley. At Ability West, we have specialist teams to support our services: MDT, Physiotherapy, Social Work, Speech and Language, Behaviour Support, OT, and Psychology Services. At Blackrock House, our Head office we have our Administration, Finance, HR, Legal and Quality Teams and Volunteers. Ability West’s mission is to empower people with disabilities to live self-directed lives in an equal and inclusive society. Each person is supported and valued within an environment which promotes their overall autonomy, health and wellbeing and enables them to reach their full potential.
